FLORIO SCORES GAINS ON ISSUES AND IMAGE; MAJORITY FEEL WHITMAN TAX PLAN NOT CREDIBLE
As the 1993 gubernatorial campaign enters its final two weeks, voters are divided over which candidate would do a better job across a number of issue areas. The issues that Whitman has the greatest edge over Florio are holding down taxes, creating jobs, and holding down auto insurance costs. In comparison, more voters feel the Republican challenger would do a worse job than Florio has done in dealing with the issue of gun control, protecting the environment, and reforming the welfare system.

FLORIO MAINTAINS LEAD OVER WHITMAN; UNFAVORABLE IMPRESSIONS OF BOTH CANDIDATES INCREASE
As the race for Governor enters its final weeks, Jim Florio leads Christine Todd Whitman by a margin of 52 to 40 percent and 8 percent are undecided. Support for Florio has increased 5 percentage points since the September poll and Whitman's support increased 2 percentage points.

MANY REPORT SERVICE CHANGES FROM 1992 CABLE ACT; JERSEYANS FAVOR COMPETITION IN CABLE TV INDUSTRY
As new federal cable television legislation forces changes in the channels offered by cable companies, 45 percent of subscribers in New Jersey say their channel line-up has been modified recently. Those who have seen changes in the channels offered are as likely to be satisfied (45%) with them as dissatisfied (46%).

SCHOOL FUNDING: NEW JERSEYANS SUPPORT EQUAL SPENDING FOR ALL SCHOOL DISTRICTS
As the state waits for a court ruling on the legal issues involved with the distribution of funding for public school education, 3-in-4 New Jerseyans agree that spending for education must be equal in all of New Jersey's school districts. In addition, while 6-in-10 residents feel that the state needs to provide additional funding for the public schools, only 1-in-4 give positive evaluations to the state's management of the money it has available to pay for the public schools.
