As far as the average New Jersey voter is concerned, the race for the U.S. Senate has yet to start. There has been virtually no change in New Jerseyans’ preferences in the Senate contest over the last four months. Democratic incumbent Frank Lautenberg continues to maintain a commanding lead of 20 points over his Republican challenger Pete Dawkins, according to the latest Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll.
