AUTO INSURANCE: MOST THINK RATES COULD BE LOWER; MAJORITY WOULD APPROVE LIMITS ON LAWSUITS
By an overwhelming margin, most New Jerseyans think auto insurance rates in the state could be lower without putting insurance companies out of business, with many feeling they could be “a lot” lower. Also, by more than 2-to-i a majority of residents would approve of limiting lawsuits from accidents in return for cheaper car insurance, according to the latest Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll.

New Jerseyans are almost evenly divided over the question of surrogate motherhood, with just slightly more saying that in general they approve rather than disapprove of the practice.

Governor Kean’s plan for reforming the state’s welfare system receives overwhelming support from New Jerseyans, with 9-in-1O saying they approve of his proposal which, among other things, would require all able-bodied welfare recipients to either work or participate in job training programs to continue receiving benefits.
