According to the latest Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll, most residents think heavy fines and requiring companies to pay the full cost of any clean-up are fair penalties for corporate polluters.

SENATE RACE UNCHANGED SINCE MAY: LAUTENBERG HOLDS COMMANDING 20 POINT LEAD OVER DAWKINS
As far as the average New Jersey voter is concerned, the race for the U.S. Senate has yet to start. There has been virtually no change in New Jerseyans’ preferences in the Senate contest over the last four months. Democratic incumbent Frank Lautenberg continues to maintain a commanding lead of 20 points over his Republican challenger Pete Dawkins, according to the latest Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll.
