NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (May 9, 2024) – As abortion reenters the spotlight on the national election stage, three in 10 New Jerseyans say they would only vote for a candidate who shares their stance on abortion, according to the latest poll in the New Jersey Health Matters series by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute in partnership with the Rutgers-Eagleton Poll.

Rutgers-Eagleton Poll Reveals Tobacco Usage Trends and Public Opinion on Smoking
Despite strong tobacco control laws in New Jersey that prevent smoking in a majority of public places, ban sales of flavored tobacco products and offer cessation services through insurance, residents continue using other tobacco products and underutilizing resources to aid in quitting. A spring Rutgers-Eagleton Poll conducted by the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling, part of the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University, on behalf of Tobacco Free for a Healthy New Jersey (TFHNJ) sheds light on critical aspects of tobacco usage, including most used products and resources used to quit as well as opinions on cannabis smoking.

New Jerseyans Overwhelmingly Support Creation of 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline, Eagleton Institute Poll Finds
A poll conducted by the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling at Rutgers University on behalf of Project ASPEN, a joint research project between NAMI NJ and a team of Rutgers researchers, finds that 92% of New Jersey residents support the creation of a 988 hotline for suicide prevention and mental health crisis.

Two-thirds of New Jerseyans agree with lifting school mask mandate, most comfortable returning to normal; half think NJ has done “just right” on pandemic
As masks officially come off today for teachers and children, a majority of New Jerseyans agree with lifting the childcare and school settings mask mandate, according to the latest Rutgers-Eagleton Poll. Forty-six percent “strongly agree” with Governor Murphy’s decision to end the mandate, 22 percent “somewhat agree,” 12 percent “somewhat disagree,” and 18 percent “strongly disagree.”
