SOLID WASTE DISPOSAL: PUBLIC SEES COSTS UP SHARPLY: SAYS STATE SHOULD HELP COMMUNITIES WITH HIGHER COSTS
A majority of New Jerseyans say garbage disposal costs around the state have increased sharply over the last year. In addition, the most recent Star-Ledger/Eagleton Poll shows that 6-in-10 residents think state government should try to equalize what citizens statewide must pay for garbage removal by giving money to communities with higher disposal costs. The public is divided, however, over whether residents of a community should all pay the same rates for disposal rather than paying based on how much garbage they throw out.
