DISCRIMINATION — THE VIEWPOINT OF NEW JERSEYANS
Close to two-fifths of New Jerseyans feel that in the next two or three years there is likely to be racial trouble in their community. In addition, half or more residents feel that in New Jersey people who are gay or lesbian, Blacks, Hispanics, and women are discriminated against.

NEW JERSEYANS REPORT DIFFICULT ECONOMIC TIMES; SOME SIGNS OF IMPROVEMENT ARE SEEN
A majority of New Jersey residents continue to express concerns over economic conditions in the state, with 72 percent describing New Jersey in bad economic times. This is, however, an improvement over one year ago when 84 percent felt the state was experiencing bad times economically.

NEW JERSEYANS MORE OPTIMISTIC; RATINGS OF STATE OFFICIALS IMPROVE; PREVIEW OF THE 1993 GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION
New Jerseyans' are more optimistic about their state — close to half now feel that New Jersey is "going in the right direction." This is a 15 percentage point increase from April 1992. In addition, the latest Star Ledger/Eagleton Poll finds the positive job performance ratings of elected state officials have increased. The Governor's positive ratings increased 7 percentage points to 36 percent and the legislature increased 11 percentage points to a 28 percent positive rating.
