New Jerseyites are in general agreement with the action taken by the Governor and the State Legislature to impose mandatory prison terms on those who use guns when committing crimes. In fact, a substantial majority of state residents would go even further, supporting a law banning the sale and possession of handguns in New Jersey. These are some of the findings of an Eagleton Institute survey of 1,003 New Jerseyites conducted between January 26 and February 8.
