The collapse of the American position in Southeast Asia has caused concern among New Jerseyans about the United States’ position in the world and the effect of the refugees on the economy. The latest New Jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton
Institute of Rutgers University, finds that almost 4 out of every 10 respondents (37 percent) feel that the recent events in Vietnam and Cambodia will affect America’s position in the world while over 3 out of 10 (31 percent) mention the possthle effects that the large influx of Vietnamese refugees will have on the state of affairs at home.
