THE 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTON: NEW JERSEY IS A TOSS-UP

Democrat Al Gore leads Republican George W. Bush by a razor thin margin of 44 to 41 percent among likely New Jersey voters, according to the latest Star-ledger! Eagleton-Rutgers poll. The 3-point gap between the candidates falls within the poll’s margin of error, meaning the race for New Jersey’s coveted 15 electoral votes is a statistical dead heat.
