A state income tax tied to property tax relief still commands the support of a majority of the New jersey public. The latest New jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Rutgers University, finds 51 percent in favor of a tax package which includes both a state income tax and a reduction in local property taxes. Such a package is opposed by 41 percent of New Jerseyans, while 9 percent are undecided.
