Ryan White Care Act Needs Assessment (1997, 1998)
Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon EMA
The purpose of the study was to identify service needs of people with
HIV/AIDS in the tri-county area. Because there is no way to identify this
population, the study involved a complicated multi-modal methodology designed
to optimize participation of people with HIV. These methods included self-administered
surveys mailed by service providers, intercept interviews held at service
sites and other areas (e.g. bars, shelters, drug treatment centers), and
an extensive series of focus group discussions. Over 700 people with HIV/AIDS
from the tri-county area (over 20% of the estimated affected population)
participated in the study.
