Senator Edmund Muskie holds a substantial lead for the Democratic Presidential nomination

Senator Edmund Muskie holds a substantial lead for the Democratic Presidential nomination with 30% of New Jersey Democrats and Independents favoring him over other contenders. This finding of the Second New Jersey Poll conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University was obtained by interviewing 1221 New Jersey residents over age 18 from
February 18 to 28. Of those questioned 720 declared themselves to be Democrats or Independents.
