Governor Cahill’s rating with New Jersey voters has dropped slightly since September, 1971, but the governor’s rating is still substantially better than that of the legislature, according to the Second New Jersey Poll conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University. The 1221 randomly selected respondents interviewed by the Poll during February gave the governor a 40% positive-52% negative score, with 8% undecided. This is down from the 44—49 rating Cahill received in September. The state legislature could only muster a 24% positive -52% negative rating, somewhat better than its 21-53 score in September of last year.
