Public confidence in the New Jersey Republican Party has fallen sharply in the past year

Public confidence in the New Jersey Republican Party has fallen sharply in the past year. During the same period confidence in the state’s Democrats has risen slightly. In the latest New Jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Rutgers University, only 8 percent of those questioned said they had “a lot of confidence” in the New Jersey Republican party while 43 percent had “some confidence” and 34 percent had “not very much” confidence in them. In March of 1973, 16 percent expressed “a lot of confidence” in the state’s GOP while 37 percent had “some confidence” and 27 percent had “not very much confidence” in them.
