President Ford is seen by New Jerseyans as the candidate better able to deal with foreign policy issues, the focus of tonight’s second Carter-Ford debate. The most recent Eagleton Poll, conducted between September 13 and 19 before the first debate, finds that the state’s residents perceive foreign affairs as Ford’s strong suit while Governor Carter is seen as better able to deal with the problems of the economy and restoring faith and trust in government.
