New Jerseyans generally skeptical that cuts in state programs and services will be made

Although New Jerseyans generally oppose the cuts in state programs and services that are suggested in Governor Byrne’s recently presented budget, they are skeptical that these cuts will in fact be made. The latest New Jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University during the first two weeks of February found that a margin of 51 percent to 40 percent of those surveyed agreed with the statement that “although politicians are talking of large budget cuts, few if any real cuts will be made.”
