Neither Robert Dole nor Walter Mondale is well known among New Jersey voters

With the nation’s first televised Vice-Presidential debate scheduled for tonight, neither Robert Dole nor Walter Mondale is well known among New Jersey voters. According to the latest Eagleton Poll, conducted between September 13 and 19, 37 percent could not name either Vice—Presidential contender. Mondale and Dole are equally known, with 55 percent correctly naming Dole and 54 percent naming Mondale. Fewer than half – 46 percent – knew the names of both candidates.
