This telephone survey of 800 New Jersey adults tracked use of the Internet in general and experiences using the Internet to access state government information and services. Read the 2001 Report.


Essex County Area Employer Workforce Needs (2001)

This mail survey of 400 public and private employers in Essex County was conducted to establish employment needs over the next few years. Awareness and potential for utilization of Essex County College training programs was also assessed.


Job of the Legislature Survey (2001)

UMDNJ Image Survey (1999, 2000)

This study consisted of a telephone survey with New Jerseyans on awareness and opinions of the state’s medical university. The survey instrument was based on earlier CPIP studies.


OIT Customer Satisfaction Survey (1999, 2001)

This study involved a telephone survey of 185-250 state government officials who utilize OIT’s services for their departments.


Ramapo College of New Jersey Image Survey (2000)

A statewide telephone survey of 800 New Jersey adults was conducted to assess familiarity with the college and its programs.


Old Bridge Township Library Assessment (1999)

This study involved a self-administered survey with 424 library patrons statistically selected over a week-long period and a random sample of 640 township households contacted via mail. Read more here.


NJIT Women Students (1999)

Focus groups were held with female students at NJIT, focusing on their needs in a school with a largely male student population.


Survey on the Development of a Cultural Trust Fund for New Jersey (1999)
New Jersey State Council on the Arts
The study sampled 78 arts and cultural organizations receiving direct grants from NJ Arts Council and 158 organizations funded through county arts organizations. The self-administered mail survey was designed to estimate the nature and magnitude of the financial needs for New Jersey arts and cultural organizations.


NJN Awareness and Opinion (1994, 1999)

This telephone survey tracks statewide awareness and opinions of New Jersey’s public television station. CPIP used cluster analysis to develop a set of typologies to describe different viewers. The survey instrument was based on earlier studies conducted for the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority in 1974, 1978, 1981, and 1988.

This annual statewide telephone survey tracks awareness and opinions of TESC as well as the type of services provided by the school.


Piscataway Library Survey (1998)

Utilizing state library methodological standards originally developed by CPIP, this study measured the utilization and evaluation of library patrons and township residents.


RUNet 2000 Student Cable Service Study (1998)

In anticipation of the RUNet 2000 integrated network, students in Rutgers housing participated in focus groups and a survey on preferences for future video services in university dorms. The survey was conducted with a split-half sample contacted either by campus mail or Internet.


College Leadership New Jersey Program Evaluation (1994-2001)

This ongoing study measures participant satisfaction and changes in knowledge during a week-long leadership program for college juniors.

This member survey of the New Jersey chapter of CWA was conducted by telephone and covered current economic issues.


Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Patient Assessment (1996)
Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
Three focus group discussions with former patients of RWJUH were held to gain insights on the hospital care that patients find the most and least important. These discussions were designed to supplement in-house questionnaires administered by the hospital.


Student Views of Financial Aid at Rutgers (1995)

This mail survey was conducted with 871 students who had applied for or received financial aid. Study objectives included understanding student perceptions of the financial aid office, evaluation of staff, and familiarity with the application process.


Rutgers Undergraduate Student Opinion Survey (1995)

This survey of 1,057 students was conducted on the New Brunswick campus. Study objectives included satisfaction with education quality, student services, and student life.


Chemical Literature Intelligent Profiler Review of Prototype (1994)

Two focus groups were held with academic and commercial chemists. The first group was designed to aid in the development of an information delivery prototype that would be beneficial to chemists. The second group assessed a demonstration of the prototype.


Assisting Faculty with Private Donations Rutgers Donor Focus Groups (1994)

Focus groups with Rutgers faculty and research personnel explored ways to maximize grants and contributions to the university.

Focus groups with Rutgers alumni who have donated money to the university were used to better understand the process of contributing to the university and designating such gifts.


Facilities Maintenance and Operations Survey of the Rutgers Community (1993)

This mail survey of 1,655 faculty, administrators, staff and support personnel was conducted on all three Rutgers’ campuses. The purpose was to measure satisfaction with the maintenance and operations of the university’s facilities.


Jersey City Public Library: Special Populations Project (1993)

The purpose of this study was to assess the perceived role of public library services in Jersey City and library utilization among selected population groups (African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, Senior Citizens, and People with Disabilities). This project also included in-depth interviews with community leaders.


Statewide Survey on Rutgers Athletics (1993)

This telephone survey of 800 New Jersey residents assessed their awareness and interest in various athletic programs at Rutgers.


Rutgers Graduating Student Opinion Survey (1992)

This study surveyed 4,107 graduating students who had spent four or more years at Rutgers. The study included student evaluations of the academic environment, student services, resident experiences, and preparation for the job market.

This survey of alumni assessed the extent to which graduates continue to identify with the University.


Needs/Satisfaction of Library Services: Development of Survey Measurement Instruments (1991)

Under a state library planning grant, CPIP worked with the New Jersey State Library to develop a standard set of protocols to be used in public libraries across the state. these protocols included self-assessment tools and methodologies for local public libraries. A scientifically chosen sample of 45 public libraries in the state participated in this pilot study. CPIP later carried out evaluations in Bridgeton, East Orange, Irvington, and Piscataway employing this process.
