GOVERNOR’ S JOB RATING UNCHANGED

Governor Brendan Byrne’s job rating among New Jerseyans is virtually unchanged from January of this year. The Rutgers-based Eagleton Poll found that 35 percent of those contacted rated the Governor positively as “excellent” or “good,” while 60 percent gave Byrne negative marks of “only fair” or “poor.” Citizen evaluations of the other two branches of state government——the legislature and the Supreme Court——also showed little variation from recent polls. In the two latest prior surveys, Byrne’s rating was 35 percent favorable – 59 percent unfavorable (in April), and 34 percent – 61 percent (in January).
