Crime in New Jersey is a major concern of the state’s residents. In the latest New Jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Rutgers University, a random sample of the state’s respondents was asked how concerned they were about three types of crime——street crime, such as muggings, rape, and robbery; organized crime, such as narcotics dealing, gambling, and loansharking; and public crime, such as corruption of public officials.
