This year-long
project included a regional (mainly Middlesex County) telephone survey,
focus groups with area residents, and focused forums with service providers.
The final results were used to guide UWCJs funding priorities during
grant application review. Read

New
Brunswick Biennial Resident Survey (1976-present)
New Brunswick Tomorrow
Conducted every other year since 1976, this survey of 800 residents is
believed to be the longest on-going study of a community on the country.
The survey tracks changing perceptions of the city as a place to live,
its public and private institutions, and available resources. Read

Neighborhood Preservation
Program Community Needs Assessment (1998-present)
New Jersey Department of Community Affairs
Eagleton developed a standardized survey and study approach for communities
given Neighborhood Preservation Program grants to conduct needs assessments.
About 200-300 households are contacted for in-person interviews of about
15 minutes in the communities selected for these grants. Each year a neighborhood
in each of 7-10 towns is selected for the program.
Community Health
Survey of Magic Marker Site (2001)
Isles
This in-person survey sampled 100 households out of 500 in a Trenton brownfield
neighborhood to assess issues of environmental health and knowledge of
health concerns. Read the

East Brunswick
Community Survey (1999)
Township of East Brunswick
This study included focus groups with residents and a mail survey with
a sample of township households. Topics included provision of services
and land development.
Renaissance 2000
Demographic Survey (1998)
First Baptist Community Development Corporation
An in-person survey of 300 households was conducted in four census tracts
comprising the Renaissance 2000 redevelopment area. Topics included demographics,
health and service needs, and safety.
Library Utilization
in Pennsylvania (1998)
Philadelphia Inquirer
This statewide telephone survey of 806 Pennsylvanians (including a Philadelphia
area over-sample) assessed residents utilization and opinion of
library services in the Commonwealth. Issues included evaluating the role
of public libraries and preferences for funding library services.
Public Library
Utilization in New Jersey (1989, 1993, 1997, 2001)
New Jersey Library Association
This quadrennial telephone survey of 800 New Jersey residents assesses
the use of different library services during the previous 12 months. Recently,
the study has included an item on accessing library services by remote
telecommunications.
City of Hackensack
Climate Study (1996)
Hackensack Economic Development Commission
This study involved telephone interviews with a sample of Hackensack residents
(n=508) and residents of surrounding towns (n=236). It also included a
self-administered survey with people who work in Hackensack businesses
(n=932) to provide a baseline of information on the attitudes and economic

Morris County 2000
A survey was conducted with 300 registered voters in Morris County on
support for creating an Open Space Trust Fund.
Union County High
School District Planning Survey (1991)
Union County High School Board of Education
This survey of 1,456 district residents assessed support for certain cost-containment
proposals.
