President Carter’s job performance rating has dropped sharply from last spring to the point where only one New Jerseyan in five now gives Carter a favorable evaluation. The latest Eagleton Poll, conducted earlier this month, shows only 19 percent giving Carter positive marks of “excellent” or “good,” compared to 80 percent giving him negative marks of “only fair” or “poor.” These figures are substantially down from an Eagleton Poll conducted last April when 34 percent rated Carter favorably and 66 percent negatively.
