New Jerseyans are becoming increasingly critical of the job both Governor Byrne and the State Legislature are doing. According to the latest New Jersey Poll, conducted by the Eagleton Institute of Rutgers University, only 27 percent rate Byrne’s performance in office as either “excellent” or “good,” while 67 percent say It is “only fair” or “poor.” The Legislature receives positive ratings of “excellent” or “good” from only 24 percent while 65 percent give them a negative rating of “only fair” or “poor.”
